“Calypso-40 magazine" to be launched at Cloud 9 Sunday night
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JUNE 24TH 2012 (CUOPM) - A high quality magazine to highlight the contribution of Calypso music over the 40 years of National Carnival in St. Kitts and Nevis will be unveiled and launched this evening (Sunday),
According to Linkon Maynard, Chairman & Executive Publisher of the Calypso-40 Magazine Committee, the historic document is appropriately titled “Calypso-40” and celebrates and chronicles National Calypso from the time National Carnival began in 1971.
“It focuses on the National Calypso competitions; the Road March competition; the artistes, the songs, the results and the insights and discussions of the organizers and fans,” said Maynard.
The Launch will take the form of a short ceremony and Live Show featuring some of the Federation’s calypso icons over the forty years of Carnival.
The venue for this grand event is Cloud 9 at Port Zante and it begins at 8:00pm at Cloud 9, Port Zante.
Minister of Culture, the Hon. Marcella Liburd has been invited to formally unveil the magazine and present the first copies to some honoured guests at the launch.
